Ringworm is a fungal infection caused by microorganisms called dermatophytes. These microorganisms live on the cells in the outer layer of the skin. Usually ringworm is a mild infection that can be treated. Even so, complications may occur and the problem might turn out to be a chronic one.
There are many types of ringworm related to the areas that they affect. We know about ringworm of the body also called tinea corporis, scalp ringworm also known as tinea capitis, feet ringworm or tinea pedis and groin ringworm also known as tinea cruris.
